Environmental Effort

As stewards of the environment, PEC is committed to providing members with resources that make it easier to conserve electricity and make environmentally friendly choices. This means providing practical, money-saving conservation tips and information that can help members make a difference economically and environmentally. PEC also believes in forming partnerships with organizations that will further educate PEC members about conservation and responsible energy use.

Current climate conditions require everyone to take a look at their environmental impact. This includes PEC. We're making strides toward increasing efforts in the areas of conservation, renewable energy, and environmentally friendly business practices.

In 2008 PEC passed two aggressive environmental resolutions: the first set a goal to reduce residential and commercial electric use by up to 20 percent; the second set a goal to purchase or generate up to 30 percent of our electricity from renewable sources by 2020. These two resolutions, in addition to a renewable energy purchase of 90 megawatts of wind power, reinforce PEC's commitment to supporting increased environmental practices. These and other environmental efforts are all part of PEC's Green Works initiative.
