C.H. Guernsey & Company, an international engineering, architecture, and consulting firm, presented a Cost of Service and Rate Design Study to PEC members on March 23. The presentation outlined several topics and options for consideration by PEC's Board of Directors. Afterward, members were invited to ask questions and provide feedback.
On April 16, 2009, a second public forum allowed members to view revised rates options that were presented to the Board's Power Supply, Contracts, and Agreements Committee.
The Board was presented proposed rates recommendations by the Power Supply, Contracts, and Agreements Committee at a special called meeting on May 11 in Johnson City. The committee also presented proposed changes to PEC's Line Extension Policy.
The Board approved a revised rate structure and Line Extension Policy at its regularly scheduled June 15 meeting in Johnson City. Changes in rates will be reflected on bills rendered on or after August 1, 2009. The Tariff for Electric Service explains the new rate structure and Line Extension Policy in depth. The tariff includes rates recommendations and proposed changes to the Line Extension Policy that were presented to the Board on May 11.
A version of the Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Inc. Rate Analysis and Cost of Service Study, redacted to protect member privacy and honor contractual confidentiality, is currently available for members to view online. Members also may visit PEC's Johnson City headquarters building to view a print out of the redacted report.
