Elections
A fundamental part of the cooperative difference is that we are democratically controlled by our members. We embrace democracy through our annual Board election, in which PEC members elect other members to serve as directors. Director candidates are nominated by members through a petition process.
On the 2013 Ballot
This year, members will vote to elect PEC directors to serve a three-year term, 2013 – 2016, for Board District 4 and Board District 5. Survey & Ballot Systems (SBS), an independent election services company, will manage balloting.
Browse the links below to see candidates' photos, biographical information, videos and contact information. Candidates are listed in the order in which they will appear on the ballot. Each Board candidate assumes all responsibility for their biographical content, which appears exactly as submitted to PEC. PEC takes no position on the issues raised by candidates in their biographies, and PEC expresses no preference for any candidate.
Voting
Ballots will be mailed to all PEC members by May 29. After that date, members will be able to vote by returning completed ballots to SBS by mail using the included prepaid return envelopes or by voting online through SBS’s secure website. Mail-in and online voting will be from May 29 through June 14. Ballots will not be accepted at PEC’s offices. Members also will be able to vote in person at PEC’s annual meeting June 22 in Kyle, where election results will be announced.
Voting Timeline Come Meet the Candidates
Members are invited to meet the Board candidates and hear them communicate their credentials, experience and views by coming to any of our three Meet the Candidates events. Each candidate will have an allotted amount of time to address topics of their choice and then will take member questions from the audience. Members will also have the opportunity to speak with candidates one-on-one after the presentation portions of the events.
The events will be held at the following locations and times:
A gift bag door prize will be awarded to one member at each of the events. The door prize rules are as follows:
- No purchase necessary.
- Must be a Pedernales Electric Cooperative member.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be present to win.
