Board Nomination by Petition
Pedernales Electric is guided by the unique principles of the cooperative business model, including democratic member control. Our Board of Directors, made up of democratically elected PEC members, provides leadership and oversight on behalf of the entire membership.
Each year, eligible members can seek nomination for director positions up for election through the petition process established by PEC’s Bylaws. While the deadline to file a petition to be a director candidate in the 2012 election has passed, here is some basic Board nomination-by-petition information:
- Verifiable signatures from at least 100 members within the director district are required to be considered for nomination. Members interested in seeking director candidacy can review the Bylaws, Board district maps and Conflict of Interest Policy for complete petition procedures and to check residency and eligibility requirements. Director information is in Article III of the Bylaws.
- Districts 4 (map) and 5 (map) director positions will be up for election in 2013.
- Petition materials for the 2012 Board election were available from Jan. 18, 2012, to April 9, 2012.
- Currently, directors may serve up to four consecutive, three-year terms.
- Directors are compensated for their service.
