Strong communities are created from sturdy foundations. Unfortunately, some Hill Country families lack the very foundations others find basic and necessary, such as a home. To help strengthen the communities we serve, Pedernales Electric has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to assist their local affiliates in providing economically disadvantaged families with a permanent home.
Through the partnership, PEC will aid Habitat for Humanity by waiving the $200 impact fee normally required to establish service at new locations, paying the $50 fee required for membership, and providing electricity during construction.
PEC will also waive for the new homeowner the $75 establishment fee required for service at an existing location, and present them with a $150 Give-a-watt™ gift check when they receive the keys to their new home. The gift check will cover the $50 membership fee and the first $100 of electric use.
We applaud Habitat for Humanity's work within the communities we serve and appreciate the focus on energy conservation that goes into the construction of each new home.
Habitat for Humanity affiliates can call 1-888-554-4732, Ext. 6929, for more information about participating.
