  • Are all fireplace glass doors the same?  Is there a brand with a better energy efficiency rating?

  • Conservation expert Brian Curtsinger said all fireplace doors should be made with tempered glass that can withstand the heat of a fire. The key to efficiency is limiting the amount of air that is drawn up and out of the home as the fire burns, so as long as the doors shut and the air draw can be adjusted, any brand on the market should do the job.
