Power of Community - Pedernales Electric Cooperative

Franchise fees

To ensure transparency to members about costs, PEC bills will display a line item specifying members’ contributions to franchise fees beginning with bills rendered May 1, 2016. PEC has franchise agreements with 45 cities and paid approximately $7.2 million in franchise fees in 2015. These fees, paid to municipalities in return for the right for the Cooperative to use city streets and public ways to provide service, are typically a percentage of the gross revenue received from the sale of electricity to meters within the city limits.
