At its April 17 board meeting, Pedernales Electric Cooperative’s Board of Directors approved the ballot for the 2017 PEC election, which will have six cooperative members running for two director positions in districts 2 and 3.
The following candidates, whose names are listed in the order they will appear on the ballot, qualified to run for seats on the board:
- District 2: Emily Pataki, William D. (Bill) Boggs
- District 3: Eric Stratton, Randy R. Klaus, Matthew S. Weldon, Judy Lawler Pokorny
The candidates achieved nomination by getting the required 50 member signatures on a petition, meeting the eligibility requirements and completing other official paperwork. The order of candidates on the ballot was determined by a random drawing.
Directors must reside in the district from which they are seeking election, and cooperative members from districts 2 and 3 may vote in this year’s election.
PEC invites members to a forum to learn more about the candidates Thursday, April 20, at 5:30 p.m. at its headquarters, located at 201 S. Avenue F in Johnson City. Board candidates will be given five minutes to present their views and will take questions from PEC members in a moderated format. Videos of the event will be posted online at pec.coop/election.
Online and mail-in voting begins May 18 and runs through June 9. Members may also vote at PEC’s Liberty Hill and Cedar Park offices. This year, PEC is offering incentives for early voting. Members voting by mail, online or at PEC’s Liberty Hill and Cedar Park office by June 9 will be entered in a random drawing for one of several prizes, including $500, $200 and $100 gift cards. Members may also choose to vote in person at PEC’s annual meeting. This year’s annual meeting will be held June 17 at Leander High School’s Don Tew Performing Arts Center. Election results will be announced before the conclusion of the meeting.
